affection, patience, dignity, and courage,
how many of us, I ask you, would be
capable of becoming cats?"
~ Fernand Mery

“In ancient times, cats were worshipped as gods;
they have not forgotten this.”
~ Terry Pratchett

Today is day nine! Tomorrow we are 1/3 of the way through
the 30/30 painting challenge. I was hoping to keep these little paintings simple, but it seems my muse has other plans. This one took way longer than I anticipated. Ugh!

See you back here tomorrow for #10!
How's everybody holding up?

Furry Family Member

"The difference between friends and pets
is that friends we allow into our company,
pets we allow into our solitude."
~ Robert Brault

Tan Tan
Commissioned Portrait • SOLD

Some bitter-sweet Christmas gifts were commissioned this year for one dear family
after the sudden premature death of their beloved furry family member,
Tanner Sanchez Heil.

Tanner Sanchez Heil
Commissioned Portrait • SOLD

"Connor loved his picture of Tanner "Sanchez" (lol)
he held back the tears but said inside he was very emotional.

The picture of Tanner "Tan Tan" was very emotional for Sammy when she opened it
but she was so very excited to have a picture of Tanner for her room.

They both said that it was the best present ever!"

~ Dorrie Crouse-Heil

Knowing that we will probably
outlive our pets can be a very sad thought.
All too well, we avid animal lovers can relate to
the grief and healing process of losing a beloved furry family member.

I feel fortunate that my art will serve as a
permanent memorial to a unique individual.
I also hope it will provide some joy and comfort along the way.

Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you are enjoying the holidays!

Portrait Of A Princess

"A dog, I have always said, is prose; a cat is a poem." ~ Jean Burden

On Sketching Everyday I post a photo each week as a sketching challenge. This past week it was to draw my cat, Princess. This morning, I decided to do a watercolor portrait of her from my drawings. I used to do a lot of pet portraits and I really enjoyed doing this one. Go to my summer drawing blog to see the photo and sketches of her. Also see several other artist's interpretations of my little Princess here.

"As every cat owner knows, nobody owns a cat."  ~ Ellen Perry Berkeley

"I had been told that the training procedure with cats was difficult.  It's not.  Mine had me trained in two days."  ~ Bill Dana
