Today is hump day!

We're now more than halfway through the

30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.

I got up early this morning and finished this piece.

I didn't want to end up working overtime, like last night.

I was contemplating switching to rag watercolor paper

for the next half of my series, but early this morning, I

sold another one of these tree paintings on Yupo paper.

So I decided to bite the bullet,

continue outside of my comfort zone,

press the pedal to the metal and drive on.

Nothing like a couple of sales to fuel my creative fire!

Angel Oak, A Precious Antique

Angel Oak is located on John's Island and has been owned by the city of Charleston, South Carolina since 1991. It is considered to be among the oldest living things in the United States. Estimates of it's age range anywhere from 400-1400 years! She stands some 67 ft. tall, has over a 28 ft. circumference and is 187 ft. in length from tip to tip of the longest branches. I just found out tonight, as I was putting this post together, that Angel Oak is threatened by development by the city of Charleston. Now it makes more sense that the painting evolved with a yin-yang pair of doves flying from the tree. (Not my original intention.) Hey, do you believe in divine intervention?

The Symbolism of Trees II

The fall always has a way of getting me really looking at trees. As they put on their autumn show, (or not), their individual characteristics become so much more evident. I went back to The Symbolism of Trees and followed this link to the tree test.  Mine has changed significantly from the first time I took it.

This iStock image has really changed and "grown" as I have become more comfortable with the Wacom Tablet. Now, I actually ENJOY using it. I remember in the beginning, I was tearing my hair out.
