One Opportunity Leads To Another

“We often miss opportunity
because it's dressed in overalls
and looks like work”
~ Thomas A. Edison
~~~~~
As you can see, and probably already know if you're reading this, my theme this time around was black tiles painted in alcohol inks. I learned a lot and grew in skill and knowledge during this challenge, which in my mind, is really what it's all about. It is a wonderful opportunity and I would encourage anyone reading this, no matter what your age or temperament,  to roll up your sleeves and dig in the next time a challenge comes your way. Just Believe you can do it, and you will succeed!
IT"S THE END of the Jan 2016 - 30 in 30 Challenge! Only three days to save 33% on the purchase of any of the elegantly framed paintings in this collection! See the complete alcohol inks on black tiles collection here.
I wasn't quite sure if I was going to do another 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge, but decided a few days ago to give it another go. This will be my seventh 30in30 online painting challenge since January 2013.
Since discovering alcohol inks almost three years ago, I have painted almost exclusively in this new exciting medium. I started painting on black ceramic tiles about a month ago and really love the dramatic quality of them. So when I decided to challenge myself once again, painting on black tiles became my theme.
I had frames custom made to accommodate the tiles and they are gorgeous!‬ The edges of the tile is painted and is mounted to a linen textured art board which is painted black.The tile pictured above is 3 x 6" and the top quality frame is 5 x 8" with an overall outside dimension of 9 x 12", ready to hang. The tile is sealed and varnish protected. There will be no glass. The profile of the frames and the overall impression is very striking. Here is an actual photo of the profile.
The Colors And Textures of Imagination
"Abstraction allows man to see with his mind
what he cannot physically see with his eyes...
Abstract art enables the artist
to perceive beyond the tangible,
to extract the infinite out of the finite.
It is the emancipation of the mind."
~ Arshile Gorky
