Spontaneity and Gesture

"I am motivated to find the essence of my subjects
through spontaneity and gesture.
Viewers can interpret as they wish...
Thus they become more personally involved
with what they see before them."
~ S. Flaig

Give Yourself A Chance

"If you give your Self a chance,
your Self will give you all the chances."
~ Yogi Bhajan

5 x 7" Pen & Ink with Alcohol Ink Sketch on Yupo

"When you let go of fear and resistance, a whole new world opens up. Opportunities for growth and enrichment are all around us. We have to be careful not to over think it,
rather just roll up our selves and dig in."
~Sandy Sandy

Become Who You Are!

"The person who has acquired the habit of study,
for only one hour every day in twelve months,
and who keeps to the one thing studied till it is mastered,
will be startled to see the progress made at the end of a year."
~E. G. Bulwer-Lytton

"One of the greatest and simplest tools for learning more and growing is doing more."
~ Washington Irving

Shine Your Light!

"Those who are at times described as being
“too emotional” or “complicated” are the
very fabric of what keeps the dream alive
for a more thoughtful, caring and humane world.
Never be ashamed to let your feelings, smiles
and tears shine a light in this world."
~ Marc Chernoff

'Shine On" ~ 5 x 7" Matted Alcohol Ink Painting on Vinyl

 I love working on black substrates but the tiles limit us to a small size. This is one of my first attempts on mat black vinyl. The inks work good on the mat vinyl too. I ordered the 40 pack of glossy 12 x 12" vinyl and it's a great deal.  I'll cut them to various sizes - with 4 x 6"'s I'll get 6 pcs. out of ea. sheet for my studio classes. I'm gonna try it with my students on April 7th! I also ordered some black boards from Blick that I'm going to try too.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a really great day!

Jerry's Yard Art at Sandarosa Studio

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely
upon my imagination.
 Imagination is more important than knowledge.
 Knowledge is limited.
 Imagination encircles the world.”
~ Albert Einstein

Haven't posted here in a few weeks,
so thought I'd post a few snaps from around the yard this morning.
Hubby, Jerry, has been busy beautifying the place.
Thought you might enjoy a peek!

Witchy-Poo is still enjoying the ride!

One of many.

Remember these?

Almost everything traded or found in trash.

New Studio Window - more about that later.

Nice touch Jer!

My new favorite! Jerry's King Crab. :-)
“Logic will get you from A to Z;
imagination will get you everywhere.”

Happy Summer everyone!!

Happiness Abounds

"Happiness is never stopping to think if you are."
~ Palmer Sondreal

Be Happy

"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness."
 ~ Robertson Davies

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better."
 ~ Albert Einstein

Forget-Me-Nots Of Angels

“Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven,
Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.”

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Meadows of Heaven
This 6" x 3" alcohol ink painting is on black ceramic tile using only white.
I have been having lots of fun painting on the black backgrounds.
They are just so different! Here is another one I just did.

Inspiration is a Butterfly

"The butterfly is a flying flower,
The flower a tethered butterfly."

~ Ponce Denis Écouchard Lebrun

I did this 4 x 4" alcohol ink painting on black ceramic tile using white ink and canned air this week. I picked them up at Lowe's last weekend and was dying to give it a go. On Tuesday, my artist friend, Irvane, came to visit, so after lunch, we each gave one a try. We both were amazed with the results and agreed the experience was simply magical! The butterfly was not my idea, but a gift from Spirit and I love the effect.

I can't believe how the time is speeding by!
December will be here before you know it!

There are still two spots available for the
Holiday Alcohol Ink Workshop
Dec. 5th and 6th
Come join the fun - No experience necessary!!

Happy Creating My Friends!

Tolerance (Day 25)

“Resolve to be tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving and
tolerant with the weak and wrong.
Sometime in your life,
you will have been all of these.”
~ Gautama Buddha

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Enchanted Garden~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alcohol Inks on Yupo paper
What a great Buddha quote this is! It would be a much better world if we could all remember and practice this sentiment. I know my tolerance level can be low at times. Especially if it involves a pet peeve or two. Sometimes it takes a kick in the butt to show me my bullheadedness, but once realized, the bruised derrière and ego are usually better off for the lesson. Both are quick to heal and I am a little more open-minded and understanding of other people's opinions and behaviors afterwards.
This month has sped by, even faster than usual. There are only five more days of the 4th  30 paintings in 30 days challenge! I must admit, this one was mostly a piece of cake for me, as I was well prepared and approached the tasks of painting and posting everyday with more of a factory/ assembly line  state of mind. See my post on Art As A Factory here. Included in that post are John Cage's "Rules for Students and Teachers.":
1 Find a place you trust, and then try trusting it for awhile.
2 General duties of a student--pull everything out of your teacher; pull everything out of your fellow students.
3 General duties of a teacher--pull everything out of your students.
4 Consider everything an experiment.
5 Be self-disciplined--this means finding someone wise or smart and choosing to follow them. To be disciplined is to follow in a good way. To be self-disciplined is to follow in a better way.
6 Nothing is a mistake. There's no win and no fail, there's only make.
7 The only rule is work. If you work it will lead to something. It's the people who do all of the work all of the time who eventually catch on to things.
8 Don't try to create and analyze at the same time. They're different processes.
9 Be happy whenever you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. It's lighter than you think.
10 Break rules. Even your own rules. Leave plenty of room for X quantities.
Congratulations to all the dedicated, hard working creatives who stepped up to the plate and accomplished the work of painting and posting everyday!
