this morning and was finished at home today.

Keep Following The Sun

There is nothing that celebrates life quite like the sunflower. It follows the sun's position in the sky like a satellite dish all through the day. Wherever the light is, even if it is dim and obscured by clouds, these flowers will seek out the sunshine. We humans can learn a valuable lesson from the symbolism this flower represents. Even in our darkest hours, we should attempt to make an effort to look for the good things that life offers us every day. Lets try to be more like the sunflower and follow the sun, even on our most overcast days.

Woo Hoo! Our July 23rd Watercolor on Yupo Workshop, 

that I just announced two days ago,

is already half filled!

A little note about the art I create for teaching purposes - When I design a theme and a project(s) for one of my workshops, I do lessons with my students in mind. I often teach complete beginners right along side of others who have moderate or even extensive art training. This means keeping steps as simple as possible, going back to basics, stepping back, evaluating, using a more predictable technique(s) and coming up with a subject that most students will have success with. Everybody needs to feel that they learned something and created a beautiful (or at least satisfying) piece. So, for instance, I know everyone loves my loose, white horse, (posted above), but this is not something I would try to teach at a one day workshop! We'd probably have a few disappointed attendees to say the least.

Art is a noble quest with no set in stone, end destination.

I help people just starting out on the path and those who've been on the Dreamway quite a while.

With an art career spanning over four decades, I have a depth of knowledge

and experience that can help guide artists in all phases of the art voyage.

The main thing is to motivate them with love, accomplishment and joy to

just keep taking one step after the other and never give up the dream.

Come discover how forgiving and fun painting on tree-free Yupo paper is! Paint a "rainbow feather" (or two or three), in transparent watercolor on synthetic Yupo paper. The basics of painting on Yupo will be discussed while the instructor demonstrates. Students will then have the opportunity to create their own with the "tricks and tips" and hands-on guidance.

Watercolor sits on the surface of Yupo paper, so you don't lose 30% of the brightness like you do on regular rag watercolor paper. You will love creating these feathers. It is simple, fast paced and done without any preliminary drawing! It is fun for all skill levels.

Yikes! Where has this year gone? I can hardly believe how fast the time goes anymore. There are only thirty days left until Christmas and after that, 2014 is as good as gone.  I constantly feel like I'm playing catch up these days. As a friend of mine always says, "The faster I go, the behinder I get." Oh well, I guess I'm not alone. I hear this sentiment more and more these days.

I spent the day designing and ordering some more calendars and I hope you'll take a look. I've always found if I can find some unique gifts and buy in bulk, it helps reduce the stress of gift giving. (ie: This year, everyone is getting calendars!) There's a reason that vendors set up all those calendar kiosks in the malls. Calendars really are an exceptional gift because it is something one can use and enjoy the whole year through! They are great for those hard to buy for folks too!  Please take a look and consider my desk and wall calendar offerings this year.
