Wolf ~ Symbol of Protection and Wisdom

"Wolf howls to remind us that we must
balance the needs of family and others
without neglecting the needs
and freedoms of ourselves."

Here's a picture of our little darlings, Cutie Pye and Opie, in their big dog bed. They were always fighting over the bed until I added two separate cat beds on top. Now they can sleep together, but each have their own space, so they are as happy as two peas in a pod. No matter where he sleeps, Opie always has one or more arms hanging over the edge.

Have a nice night and I'll see you back here tomorrow
if my creative muse is willing!

Thanks for your friendship and for stopping by!
Your emails, pep talks and comments are
always greatly appreciated.

The Wolves Within ~ Native American Legend ~ # 29 of 30

"The battle line
between good and evil
runs through the
heart of every man."
~ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

This painting depicts the one of my favorite Native American stories, The Wolves Within. The story goes that there are two wolves living inside of each one of us. One wolf represents good - joy, love, kindness, respect, generosity, truth and peace. The other represents evil - hatred, jealousy, sorrow, greed, anger, dishonesty and resentment. Each day theses wolves do battle with one another.  At the end of the story, the child asks the grandfather which one will win. The old man replies with the words; "The one you feed".

More Wolf Killing Planned In Alaska

I just got a letter and petition from the Wilderness Society today that had an enormous amount of thought provoking replies. If you are concerned about wildlife protection and the connection between man vs. nature, I think it is worth the read.

This quoted passage showed up twice, so I thought I'd post it here.

"We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals.

Remote from universal nature, and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth."

Palin Escaltes Aireal Wolf Killing

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's administration increased its aerial wolf killing program this past weekend, which the group Defenders of Wildlife says violates current state regulations.

"While the media obsesses over Governor Palin's private family life, she is getting away with illegally slaughtering large numbers of wolves from the air," said Defenders Action Fund president Rodger Schlickeisen. "The governor is even encouraging the killing of wolves that reside and den mostly on federal land, which belongs to all of us, not just Alaskans. There is no biological emergency in Alaska that warrants such measures."

The World Has Hope

Today I got a letter from Canadian Artist, Robert Genn about The Arts and Barack Obama.

Read Bob's inspiring letter here.

I feel this is not only a victory for change and reform here in the USA.
The world is watching and paying close attention, because this is SOMETHING REALLY BIG! Nothing like this has ever happened before! There is a higher energy at work here and I am so psyched!

Messages From Spirit

Messages From Spirit can come in many ways. Sometimes it's a subtle whisper and sometimes it's a downright obvious sign!

This morning when I got up, I went to my closet to grab a shirt off the top shelf. It was dark in the room and I reached up and blindly grasped the top one. To my surprise, the t-shirt in my hand was one I had not seen, thought of or worn in a very long time. How did it get on top of the pile?

Although we are prohibited from displaying any political items at the polls, I think my shirt definitely made a statement. Everyone who sees me today will know exactly where I stand.

Wolf is the embodiment of protection and wisdom and according to some native legends, the tribe's greatest teacher.

The Future of Wildlife

As one of America's millions of conservationists, I'll be using my vote this year to help publicly address my particular concern for the future of our country's wildlife and natural resources.

So this year when you vote for your local, regional and national leaders, I hope you’ll also consider voting for those that will be champions for the environment and wildlife.

Freedom OF THE SPIRIT

Each Sunday, I receive "The Infinite Being" newsletter by Owen Waters. Today I downloaded his new book, "Freedom of the Spirit", just out and available online as an e-book.

Owen says mankind currently stands at the 6th and final stage of material consciousness, getting ready now to move on into the spiritual tier of conscious evolution. I strongly recommend this publication to all seekers of a higher, more evolved awareness. Learn more about this book on my Spirit Art Blog tomorrow.

Doesn't the "God" in all Life Matter?

Have you ever heard of aerial hunting? It's a brutal practice. Wolves are shot from low-flying aircraft or chased to exhaustion, then killed at point-blank range.

Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for Vice President, promotes this barbaric practice, exploiting a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act to allow private wolf killers to shoot down wolves using aircraft. To encourage the killing, she even proposed a $150 bounty for the left foreleg of each dead wolf!

We have to get the word out about this! Please watch this powerful new television ad by Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, and then share it with every wildlife lover you know:
