"Inspiration comes from doing."

"There is no progress without product."
~ Robert Genn

What this challenge always does for me, is it speeds up my painting progress. Simply put, you can't advance as an artist without putting in large, continuous blocks of time and effort. That's why, even after professionally making art my whole adult life, I continue to try new approaches, experiment, learn, grow and evolve. Robert Genn once said, in reply to a student wanting a critique from him, that in order to be a true artist, you must first go to your room and come back after you have painted a hundred pieces. Becoming an artist is a process that only time and effort can create.

"The brilliance of art as a collectible is that it has
a way of reaching out on an emotional level.
It touches on mystery, even spirituality."

Robert Genn and Sandy Sandy ~ Glasier Bay Alaska, 2005

Sandy painting on the Coral Princess, 2005 - by Robert Genn

I was fortunate to meet Bob through his Twice Weekly Letters for artists back in 1998. It was just a small group of subscribers at first, but Bob's content was amazing and readership mushroomed quite quickly. He continued to inspire artists world wide and wrote a letter to artists twice-weekly, non-stop for 15 years and I think I have read every one! Today, Sara, his daughter, carries on his legacy. I feel so fortunate to have known him online and offline. What a wealth of inspiration he was and continues to be in my life!

Thanks for stopping by and for adding your thoughts.
I love connecting with artists and collectors here and
truly appreciate your feedback and friendship.
