Two More Sunflowers in Watercolor

I just finished my personal sunflower challenge. Here are two more paintings, done from a www.SketchingEveryday.com contour drawing. All are using the same drawing and medium, but with each, I am employing different techniques.

Painting #3 -
The third painting in this series was done on Yupo paper.
I haven't used it in a very long time. If you paint with a water
based medium and have never tried it, you should give it a shot!
It is fun, challenging and surprising!

Painting #4 -

The final painting is executed in my usual approach,
wet into wet in two steps.

Which one(s) do you like or dislike and why?
As always, your feedback is eagerly awaited.

Thank you friends!
Hope you are having a fantastic weekend!

    1. Thanks Kay! One nice thing about yupo is you can always go back to it, unlike regular cotton rag paper. ☺

  2. Hi Sandy. The yupo does look like fu, but I must say I love your traditional sunflower.

    2. I like the traditional sunflower. It is brighter in color and just pops out.

  4. Hi Sandy, two very good paintings with No.3 being full of movement, I like that. I also like No. 4 for its clarity and that light at the top of the painting is really effective.

  8. Hi Sandy,
I've never tried Yupo. is it a hot pressed paper? I looks more slick so that water media does not absorb so quickly. I think I'll give it a try this summer. any tips?

    1. I think you might like it Carmella. Yupo is actually a plastic paper. It doesn't absorb at all. Tips - Stay loose, have fun and go with the flow!
