Thirty Paintings In Thirty Days - Day Two

"If you observe really happy people,
you will find them building a boat,
writing a symphony, working in the garden,
educating a child, or painting in alcohol inks.
These people will not be searching for happiness as if
it were a button that has rolled under the radiator.
He or she will not be striving for it as a goal in itself.
They will have become aware, that they
are happy in the course of living life -
twenty-four crowded hours of every day."
  ~ W. Beran Wolfe

I decided to participate in Leslie Saeta's January 2017  30 paintings in 30 days challenge this time around. I have participated in every one except the last one in September because I was launching my first  FUNdamentals of Alcohol Ink E-Course. The second session of this online alcohol ink workshop starts this Saturday, January 7th and registration is still open!

I wanted to show you how I added the stag to this winter scene using one of my sketches which I scaled to size on my copier, then transferred using grey transfer paper.

My sketch was scaled to size on the copier.

Then it was traced onto the tile with transfer paper.
You can see this finished painting and all my daily 30 in 30 paintings for this challenge on
Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!!

Yesterday, Fat Tuesday, was my snowy birthday. Birthdays have, of course, lost some of their charm at my age. I must admit, it feels really good to be warmly treated and remembered by so many friends and family members though.

Jerry and I spent the later part of birthday afternoon at the Borgota Casino & Hotel in AC playing $5,000 Bingo, surrounded by about 5,000 other senior folks. It was a good way to feel young on a 61st birthday. We weren't lucky at Bingo but had a delicious meal at the buffet and made just enough on the slots afterwards to pay for the Jeep window that had to be repaired this morning. We had to stuff cardboard in the track so it would stay up on the chilly ride home.

I saw an interview on TV recently of an elderly couple that had been married for 81 years. What struck me most about them was their joyful attitude towards each other and cheerful take on life in general. Although they were both approaching 100, they had not forsaken that idealistic, youthful glow. Their enthusiasm was inspiring.

"It is through the idealism of youth
that man catches sight of truth,
and in that idealism he possesses a wealth
which he must never exchange for anything else."
~ Albert Schweitezer

Thanks so much to you all for your birthday cards, emails,
wishes and especially your friendship,

A Very Vincent Day ~ How Lovely Yellow Is!

"How lovely yellow is!
It stands for the sun."
~ Vincent van Gogh

The Day started with my usual social networking and web cruising. My meandering ended up bringing me to my old blog post on Vincent van Gogh from 2012, when I attended the exhibit of his work in Philadelphia. I made an album on my facebook art page with some of his works from that post and got inspired all over again. Using his color palette from one of my favorite VVG paintings, I did these three paintings on ceramic tiles today.

"You're In My Dreams"
6 x 8" Alcohol Ink on Ceramic Tile

"On The Road to Arles"
4 x 4" Alcohol Ink on Ceramic Tile

"Out Of The Woods"

Happy creating everyone!
