Sharing My Passion

"Whatever you're doing,
give it all you got, share your passion,
excitement and enthusiasm and
let your vibe and energy become
an inspiration to others."
~ Ricardo Housham
After Wednesday's detour and some equipment streamlining, I was back on track for Friday and Saturday's NYC "YIPPEE 4 YUPO" painting demonstrations at Dick Blick Art Stores, sponsored by Legion Paper. Each one just got better and better! One of the good things about Wednesday's trip, is when you start at the bottom, there's nowhere to go but up!

Friday, May 30th's presentation was at the Dick Blick Art Materials
Store at
650 6th Ave, where I made my NYC debut last August.

There was a lot of interest in what I was doing.
Many shoppers stopped and lingered.

And a half a dozen ladies stayed the whole two hours.

 ~~

On Saturday, I was in the old historic section of NYC at 1-5 Bond Street.

The store was very impressive and I wished I had more time
so I could look around and do some shopping.

The people I have met have been so nice. We all had so much fun.

This group was really engaged. There were many thoughtful questions and lots of note taking. When it ended, nobody seemed to want to leave and everyone thanked me whole heartedly. Everyone agreed that they really enjoyed the event, were excited to try Yupo paper and had learned a lot. It felt awesome to share my passion and inspire people to learn, experiment and to try something new.

I am looking forward to doing more presentations. I will be going back on June 11th and will be at 536 Myrtle Avenue (from 4-6) in Brooklyn. And on June 12th (from1-3) I will be at 237 W. 23rd St. in NYC. You can see more about my "YIPPEE 4 YUPO" demonstrations here.

Standing Room Only

"An inconvenience is an
adventure wrongly considered."
~ Gilbert K. Chesterton

It was a rough start to the first in a series of painting demonstrations in New York City yesterday. After our train died somewhere south of Newark, NJ, we eventually had to be rescued by another Amtrak Train which put us over an hour and a half off schedule. There was mostly standing room only as the train we embarked was already 3/4 full. I was pleasantly surprised though about how well most people handled the situation.

So after leaving my house and making reservations with plenty of time to spare, I arrived at the art store over an hour late and proceeded to demonstrate at full throttle. If nothing else, I learned most people handle inconvenience with grace. I also realized that I was taking way too much stuff! I spent the afternoon seriously reorganizing, downsizing and streamlining my YIPPEE 4 YUPO presentation and I am good to go again!

Inspired By Wine

"I cook with wine,
sometimes I even add it to the food."
~ W. C. Fields

Yikes! It's been ten days since I posted here. I've been so busy painting, doing commissions, preparing for my Legion Paper/ Dick Blick Yupo Demos and  spending way too much time on facebook!

I was surprised when this painting hit a home run and broke my personal records for traffic, likes and comments on facebook this week. It's not that I'm keeping score, but I can't help but notice. Facebook has become a good barometer for me as far as people's preferences go. I'm still not 100% sure if this was so popular because folks just like the idea of wine, the quote or the painting.☺

This piece started as a flower a while ago and had been set aside. Every time I saw it, I thought of grapes. So after some major surgery "Inspired by Wine" was born. Now, can you guess what I'm thinking of painting at my May and June NYC Demos?!

BTW,  I just set up two new facebook groups; Yupo Artists and Watercolor on Yupo Paper. Come on over and join in the fun!

KEEP SMILING AND CONTINUE TO

PAY IT FORWARD!
